Challenge setup guide

Triathlon / Multisport Event

Complete the stages in order and compare total event time.

What is this challenge about?

A multisport event joins separate activity stages into one ordered event. The starting example is swim, bike, and run, but the same model can describe a duathlon, swim-run, or a custom sequence. Each stage has its own target and eligible activity type.

How do participants win or achieve the goal?

Participants must qualify every stage in order. The winner is the participant with the fastest event elapsed time from the first stage start through the final stage end, including transitions. Participants can also see individual stage results, but the complete event result is the main competition.

How participants track progress

Key configuration options

Event structure

  • Choose a staged race objective.
  • Choose Sequential stages.
  • Choose Event elapsed timing.

Stage definitions

  • Set the exact order of stages.
  • Set a target and unit for every stage.
  • Map one or more eligible activity types per stage.

Optional configuration

Replace the sprint-style distances with your event format, remove or add stages, or use bounded-attempt timing when a complete event is not the right model. Pool swimming and indoor cycling may allow recorded distance and duration without GPS when explicitly enabled for that stage. Add detailed event instructions and a calendar entry when participants need logistics.

How to set it up

  1. Select Triathlon / Multisport Event and set the event date.
  2. In Basics, choose Staged race, Sequential stages, and Event elapsed timing.
  3. Open the stage editor and confirm stage order.
  4. Enter each distance, activity type, and GPS/fallback rule.
  5. Save and test a complete event sequence before inviting participants.
  6. Write participant instructions explaining transitions and the complete-event requirement.
